Bs Special Is Fastest Qualifier for the 2017 MN Stallion Breeders’ Futurity

Three formful trials on Saturday, June 17, separated 22 starters into a field of ten for the 2017 Minnesota Stallion Breeders’ Futurity.

The two fastest qualifiers came from the third trial. Bs Special ($4.80) and jockey David Pinon came home in 17.949 for trainer Casey Black. Owned by Duane Murphy, Bs Special is a daughter of Freighttrain B, out of the Royal Quick Dash mare Im Quick Say Bye Bye.

Second-place finisher Itinkican Itinkican impressed in her Canterbury debut in May, winning by over two lengths. On Saturday, she finished just under a length behind Bs Special but posted the second fastest time of the day: 18.095. Itinkican Itinkican was ridden by Brayan Velazquez; Jason Olmstead trains the Freighttrain B filly for Summer Run Inc.

In the first two trials, a pair of winning barn mates posted final times only a thousandth of a second apart. High on Chablis ($3.80) and Oscar Delgado won the first trial for trainer Ed Ross Hardy and owner High Rate Runners 2017 in 18.285; Delgado and Hardy teamed up to bring Eos Marie Leveau ($4.20) home in the second trial in 18.286, this time for owner Corey Wilmes.
